Tute is a Spanish trick-taking game for 4 players in two partnerships using the 40-card Spanish deck. Each player receives 10 cards; the last card dealt (the pinta) sets trump. The highest trump wins the trick, else the highest card of the led suit. Hands score 120 card points plus 10 for the last trick, and king-plus-knight declarations (40 in trump, 20 in the other suits) are added — the first partnership to 100 points wins the game.

The whole deck is dealt — 10 cards to each player. The last card dealt, which goes to the dealer, is shown to everyone: it is called the «pinta» and its suit is trump for that hand.
Because the entire deck is dealt, trump is known from the start and there is no stock to draw from.
The winner of each trick leads to the next. In this version (tute sencillo) you must follow the led suit if you can; if you are void you may play anything — there is no obligation to overtake or to trump.

The trick is won by the highest trump; if no trump was played, by the highest card of the led suit. Won tricks are stacked by partnership and their cards score at the end.
Holding the king and the knight (caballo) of the same suit lets you «sing» a declaration: 40 points in the trump suit (las cuarenta) and 20 points in any other suit (las veinte).
You sing immediately after winning a trick and before leading to the next one — one combination per trick won per player. The 40 must be sung before any 20: once you sing a veinte you lose the right to sing the cuarenta later. Each suit combination can only be sung once per hand, and partners' declarations are added together.
Collecting all four kings or all four knights in your hand is a «tute»: it may be sung right after winning a trick and wins the game on the spot.
At the end of the hand count the trick points (120 in total), add 10 to the winner of the last trick (the «diez de últimas») and add each partnership's declarations:

If a hand ends level on points (for example 65–65), it is won by the partnership that took the last trick.
Hands are played in succession (with the deal rotating) and each partnership accumulates its points until one reaches 100 or more — that partnership wins the game. If both pass 100 in the same hand, the higher scorer wins.
The ace and the three are the most valuable cards (11 and 10 points) — never hand them to a trick the opponents are sure to take.
If your partner is winning the trick, throw your point cards in («fregar») to swell the team's haul.
Sing the cuarenta as soon as you can; singing a veinte first forfeits them.
Keep a high trump for the last trick — the diez de últimas can decide a close hand.
